I have to do research soon.
This always happens.

Road Striping -- Lack Of It
This pathetic news was in The Source today. www.stjohnsource.com.
==================================================================
V.I. Answer Desk: What Is Happening with Road Striping?
By Bill Kossler — May 29, 2010
Reader David Knowles asks about road striping: "A while back the lieutenant governor (Gregory Francis) and the DPW (Department of Public Works) made a big deal about STX getting a new machine to paint lane markers on the roads. I saw some lines near Salt River and the new Scenic Road but nowhere else. Did the machine get broken? Did they forget to buy paint? The cross walks desperately need to be painted and signs to yield to pedestrians."
The Source caught up with Assistant Public Works Commissioner Roberto Cintron Thursday and asked about the status of road striping since the department received two new striping machines last July. During a recess in Senate committee hearings on his nomination to the V.I. Board of Land Use Appeals, Cintron said the new striping machine is great and fast on newly paved roads. But a lot of the striping that needs to be done is on older, rutted roads and on those roads the new machines would leave a more squiggly line. So for most roads, the department uses walk-behind machines, which offer more control but work more slowly, he said. Those machines are being used now for work at Bassin Triangle. Striping is also generally done at night to avoid interfering with traffic, he said.
For more specific detail, Cintron referred questions to Deputy Commissioner of Transportation Karole Ovesen-McGregor. Messages were left for Ovesen-McGregor at her office on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. On Wednesday, she spoke briefly with the Source and mentioned the work being done at Bassin Triangle. She said she was in the midst of a conference call and would call back when she had a moment.

Red Sox Win Again
The Boston Red Sox won again last night, this time 2-0, as they continue to actually win by outscoring the opponents.
In fact, things are looking good, and you might have read it here -- that is if you actually read it here. I doubt anyone will read this.
You might as well rent a villa from www.stjohnvillarental.com, which is the best place to find a rental villa on st john in the usvi.

Good gosh, more research
I need to do some more research. Maybe I will be able to wait until after winning at scrabble. Maybe not. Seems like it needs to be done.

Small Post Today
This is a small post, because I have just returned from a boat trip to BVI and have to do some research.

Bread
Bread on board, in addition to what we ordered through provisioning:
Crusty French Bread -- baked by Captain G. Piecost
Banana Bread -- baked by M
Banana Bread -- baked by Joy
Some Other Bread -- baked by Joy
That should be enough.

Penultimate
Today is a day of penultimates.
The penultimate day before leaving on a sailing trip.
The penultimate NHL Eastern semifinal playoff game was last night, and the Bruins won by underscoring philly.
The penultimate NBA Eastern playoff series will end tonight in the potential penultimate game that instead will be the ultimate game. And that will make the next series, against orlando, the penultimate series for the Celtics.
And I will undoubtedly take penultimate research time in my little library, with the ultimate research time tomorrow morning.

Research again
It is amazing how you can plan research for early morning every day. I do it. Right now I could probably do some, but I might wait another half hour and go to my little library off the kitchen.

Everyone won yesterday
The Boston Celtics won by outscoring their inferior opponents.
The Boston Red Sox won by outscoring the dickheads.
The Boston Bruins won even though they had the day off.
And the New England Revolution and New England Patriots also won even though they were off.
Wicked.
Potrzebie.

Pits
#1 pit -- dry, unsmelly -- the best. Not in the least bothersome.
#2 pit -- wet, unsmelly -- second best. You can see it coming, but it doesn't smell.
#3 pit -- wet, smelly -- a bad one. You can see it coming, and it gets you with a stink. At least you know who is to blame.
#4 pit -- dry, smelly -- the worst. You can't see it coming, and it gets you. The worst thing is, you never know who has it, and people might blame you, which in turn gives you a pit.
#2 pit -- wet, unsmelly -- second best. You can see it coming, but it doesn't smell.

Research
How come I do research every morning?
Better than holding it in.
Otherwise, there might be a wicked fart.
#1 fart is silent and non-smelly. Undetectable.
#2 fart is audible and non-smelly. You can hear it so you have time to avoid the smell, but there isn't any smell. You know who did it.
#3 fart is audible and smelly. You can hear it, and know who did it, so you can prepare for the smell, which gets you. However, since you know who did it, you can blame that person.
#4 fart is silent and smelly. You can't prepare for it. It just sneaks up on you and gets you. Plus, you don't know who did it. Someone might blame you for it. It is wicked.

Shutters
Incidentally, I am going to start on shutters shortly.
Easy ones for the windows first. Simple plywood with 1x2 borders. Blue paint. Hinges and barrel bolts.
Easy for me, because I can actually do it.
But the sliding doors will be harder.

No More Wednesday Nights
The cocktail party at Elaine's is done for the season. We are all in mourning. But open mic is still going on. With Mark still doing it, but barely hanging one.

The Red Sox won.
The Bruins won.
And all of them won the old-fashioned way by outscoring the opponents.
The lads are going to st john to rent a villa through www.stjohnvillarental.com and www.frankbayvillas.com because they deserve a vacation villa.

Red Sox Win Again By Underscoring Orioles
The Red Sox won for the third straight day by once again underscoring the opponents. Three straight underscore wins against the shitty orioles.
This team is underperforming. Much better to win by overscoring than by underscoring.
Well -- I guess a win is a win.

Rainy Day
My small cisterns are already overflowing due to the rain today. It takes one little rainstorm to overflow them. The large ones are probably up to 2/3 from about 40%. I have no water problem that I know of.

Red Sow won again by scoring fewer runs
Last night in Baltimore the Boston Red Sox won by underscoring the Orioles.
