Research

I have to do some research, and may not make it all the way through my routines this morning.

I figured out how my iphone gps works.

I figured out how my iphone gps works.

It needs two inputs.

1. It needs a gps signal from the gps satellites. At least three of them so it can triangulate a position.

2. It also needs a data signal -- two ways -- so it can send the gps info to a data base somewhere and get a map onto the iphone showing the exact location.

A very sophisticated gps, for example, in a car or on a boat, has a dvd with all the gps maps on it. The little iphone doesn't, so it has to access a data base.

I figured this out because we turned on the "airplane" mode, tried "map", and the iphone gave us an error message saying we needed wifi to function. So it definitely needs the data link. And it obviously needs at least 3 satellites, since that is how gps works.

So I figured it out.

Gronk

The Patriots drafted a tight end named Gronkowski. He is called Gronk.

In 2 weeks, they went from zero tight ends to 3.

Alge Crumpler, former all-pro.
Gronk, rated #2 among tight ends in the draft.
Hernandez, rated about 4 among tight ends, but would have been higher except for pot.

The lads are coming to St. John to stay in villas. www.stjohnvillarental.com is the best web site for selecting a villa.

Bruins Win in Double Overtime

The Bruins won in double overtime last night, 3-2. The highlights will undoubtedly be on Sports Center. I will be watching as the lads get some video time.

The Bruins have won the series 4 games to 0, even winning one of the games when they were outscored.

No calendar for me this year

There is no calendar of the grandchildren this year. JT says he can't find any.

Very disappointed.

Maybe I'll go and take a bunch of photos.

Boston Marathon

Some guy from Ethiopia or Kenya won the Boston Marathon in record time. But get this, two American guys did well. 4th and 5th place. And the 4th place guy finished just two seconds behind 3rd.

In the olden days, Frank Shorter used to win, and then some guy from Boston named Bill somebody used to win. I could look up his name, but since I am doing no posting today I am not going to do it. I might as well mention www.stjohnvillarental.com today, since this post is all about renting a villa on St John, so I think I will. St John Villa Rental.

Chinese Food

I had a dream last night that I was at a convention, and everyone went to the banquet, but I had to leave the building and go buy some Chinese takeout food and bring it back to my cubicle and eat it. It cost about $10, and I was just about to give some cash, but the person in front of me swiped his credit card, so I did too. I got a plate, and a brownie, but no drink. So I had to go to another place for a drink. And then I woke up. M went to the banquet. The most amazing thing is, I had a Reader's Digest to read and keep me busy during the dinner, which I didn't get to eat since I woke up. And I never got to read either, since I woke up. The Reader's Digest was in my pocket.

I guess I should just go to www.stjohnvillarental.com and find a villa on St John to rent.

Bases loaded, no outs - - no runs

The Boston Red Sox were in extra innings yesterday, and had runners at all the corners in a tie game at Fenway. No outs, pillows populated.

So David Ortiz hit a shitty little ground ball for a force out at home. Then someone else hit a ground ball double play. And in the next inning, some dink got a home run so the Red Sox won 1-3, even though they were actually outscored.

My stupid computer insisted on installing Java, so I let it.

I will just send it to a far-away spot on the desktop.

Celtics win the last game of the season

Once again, the Boston Celtics won a basketball game even though they were outscored by the other team. This astounding run of winning games when being outscored is yet another record by the lads.

They will obviously win all their playoff games this year if that continues.

Web site

The SJYC web site will be updated by someone other than the Beloved Captain G. Piecost, because the current commodore is screwing everything up. I have no interest in killing myself helping him anymore.

Time for him to start following the club by-laws for a change.

Yacht Club

The Yacht Club will have to figure out how to update the web site somehow, because I am not going to do it.

Too bad, but that's the way it is.

The current commodore, who actually made the statement that he was trying to modernize the club by sending info by email, is unable to send an email. A mere novice.

For your info, Commodore Gerald H. Hills was the person who modernized the Yacht Club by personally gathering all the email addresses and sending info via email. Also creating the web site. Also creating the Bob Eaton Award.

And another thing, Commodore Hills respected the By-Laws.

No beans

I had dinner at the home of Debbie Hayes last night, but didn't have the beans. Everyone else did, of course, and then everyone else farted all night, but that's what happens.

Beans, beans, musical fruit.
The more you eat the more you toot.
The more you toot the better you feel.
Now you're ready for another meal.

Of

Beans, beans, musical fruit. etc.

Bruins Win Again, and Go Into 6th Place

The Bruins won again. This time they really won. 3-1. Moved into 6th place in the East, so they are fairly sure to make the playoffs. 3 points ahead of 9th place. Incidentally the Bruins are 6-3-1 in the last 10 games. Pretty good.

The Celtics are in 3rd with 4 games left, and should win all 4 of them.

Washington 24-54 at Boston
Boston at Milwaukee 44-34
Boston at Chicago 38-40
Milwaukee 44-34 at Boston

Incidentally, Atlanta is tied with the Celtics, both teams at 49-29.

Atlanta has the following left:

Toronto 38-40 at Atlanta
Atlanta at Washington 24-54
Atlanta at Milwaukee 44-34
Cleveland 61-18 at Atlanta

Celtics Win Again

The Boston Celtics won again last night. So many in a row no-one has a mathematical symbol that goes that high.

Incidentally, a googol is 10 to the 100th power, which is staggering.

However, a googolplex is google to the 100th power, which is unimaginable.

House swap

Did you know that you can swap your house for another?

I found houses in New Hampshire and Maine yesterday that the owners want to swap for a house in the Virgin Islands or St. John.

So maybe M and I can go to New England for a week.

Patriots add a defensive lineman

I knew this would happen. The Patriots added a veteran defensive lineman to their roster yesterday. Some guy from the Carolina Panthers who is 32, 301 pounds, and was formerly a #1 draft pick -- #12 in the entire draft.

He is 32, which is a tad old, but most likely will be able to play 3 more years. This adds wicked depth to the defensive line. Now they can draft a wicked stud with their #1 pick (#22), and have all kinds of depth.

They added a tight end, and will probably get another one in the second round.

Here is what they will draft in rounds 1 and 2.

Defensive lineman.
Tight end.
Rush linebacker.
Wide receiver.

Every first friday is open house at the galleries at Mongoose. I guess I will go tonight. Won't buy anything, but will go.

Actually, I bought $7,000 from Baja El Sol one night, so they can't complain.

itunes

I might order some itunes today. I need to get Centerfield. Also some Neil Diamond, or it might be Neal Diamond. I better check.

Be right back. (google, google)

It is Neil Diamond, just as I first thought.
